Poll: What Anti-Trojan Program do you use?

In parallel to the anti-virus poll, I'd be interested to see what others are running...

Where is 'none'?

"Speaking personally, I used to use Sub7 & other trojans to have fun with peoples systems."

That's your quote from another thread.

"None" is in the naive section of this forum.

Trojan First Aid Kit right now, but hope to move to TDS-3 sometime soon.

Is TFAK not the same as Trojan First Aid Kit in the list above?

Not sure. The list I was using and some of the website I've visited had them as separate sofwares.

I could be wrong though.

You know, I said that so that any knowledge that I may have could be used as a resource, not a punching bag.

Wozzeck,

you seem to think that you should get some sort of pat on the back for making such statements, just because. . . you don't do such things . . . anymore.

That you still think it was having "fun" is to me a tell-tale sign of the wrong attitude.

What you did was break the law, irresponsibly put other people's private information at risk, and worst of all violated people's trust.

Tell us how funny did the people, who system's you trespassed into, find it when you told them you opened up their systems to all your other script kiddie kin that were using the same trojans to have their "fun"?

Did you tell them that if they used any online banking or E-commerce transactions that they all should cancel their credit cards and other accounts and re-open new ones?

I'm sure that you being on the "proper side" of things now, also offered them full direct and indirect compensation for your actions.

In my (not so humble) opinion, you are the one that needs to do a lot of learning from all the good people here at DSLreports.

Wisdom is gained through the ethical application of one's knowledge and abilities.

Having your kind of "fun" is the exact opposite of wisdom.

I for one will take my learning from those here at DSLreports that can offer their wisdom.

Oh Yeah, the Poll! I am using Anti-Trojan right now, but am still open on any favourites at this time. Since becoming a member here, I now have just have too many products to test out. Because I like to do my own tests and compare to what others say about the products.

(OK OK I like to play with all the new toys says this slobbering computer geek . . . . wanted Luke Skywalker pocket protector . . .will trade surplus white tape. )

Hmm, unlike what the sterotype, I really did nothing to anyone's computer... And yes, I think i do deserve a pat on the back because I'm not doing it anymore. In fact, just a few minutes ago I closed ports 137-139 removed the trojans, and left a note of what was going on: the user had no idea anyone was even in his computer.

FYI: Your ip, if infected by a sub7 or another other trojan is posted in a public chatroom and then absolutely owned by everyone in the room (usually 100+). This is the first nugget of information I can provide to those who are interested in knowing the inner workings.

I know that what I was doing was wrong, but I have come clean and work against it now. I never once stole one credit card form, never once deleted anything, never did anything besides freak out a few people looking at pornography.

This is -much- worse than what some of my "kin" did. I can go into detail, but the flaming must stop.

This is not what I expected, I wouldn't have said anything I knew you guys weren't going to be at least semi respective. So if you want to use me as a punching bag go ahead, I'll stop posting here, no problem. Otherwise give me the same respect you give other people (do we make fun of drug-addicts that have recovered? no we congratulate them), I think i deserve it. The relationship may provde mutual.

EDIT: what i meant to say what, what my kin did was much worse, poorly worded.

"None or just not now, I haven't gotten to this yet" is my vote.
Great poll. I may check back later and use the top three voted options as a start for evaluating my own choice. Thanks, ethics!

Wait a minute, so you were doing it NOW!?!? Not "at one time?"

This is a family forum so I will refrain but any kind of respect for you just went out the door.

Ohhhhhhhhh, that's like what? Secret? Everyone I know in the security and hacking community (the good type and not for "fun" knew this. As a matter of fact I betcha didn't know that Sub7 type of trojans were being manipulated in to messaging newsgroups via anon (dragonfly) posts?

I know that what I was doing was wrong, but I have come clean and work against it now.
As of what? 7 minutes ago? And would you do this if no one told you what you were doing was wrong? I mean, where's the common sense that is supposed to be so common?

Respect is earned by sharing knowledge. Even hackers do that without compromising someone else's privacy. Script kiddes on the other hand go to IRC, download a snooper pooper and they are on their way without knowing squat about security.

Glad people will gain something out of it. I was curious to see how many people were using the same as I have. And of course, why use or not use other programs.

The reason I left out "none" was because I wanted to hear what people were running. Those that weren't well, they can certainly get a few ideas.

Ethics, would you rather I had left the system so credit card numbers could be stolen, and his system disabled?

What is so bad about wanting to come clean and working against what I had previously done. It seems that we have the same enemy, why not be allied?

Answer: Nothing bad about turning your life around & correcting behavior. That is part of growing-up. Just do not tell others about it (here at least). If you need to confess then consult a lawyer or a priest. DSLR is not a good place for this. Even if you were helpful, to publicly say on this forum that you have invaded someone's computer means there is an admission of a crime, possibly a felony, for all to see. I do not want narcs snooping here. Knock it off! There is and should never be anything to interest law enforcement posted at DSLR. Please.

Great poll Ethics.
Tauscan here, as a trial for a problem I thought I had. Found the problem, fixed it so all is ok.

As for the rest of the issues being discussed here...
1...They are off topic.
2...things are getting out of hand.
3...if they are going to continue then start another thread for it and leave this for it's original intention.

I agree with what DelaWhere_Steve said...Knock It Off

You might want to read this thread. It's a long read but gives you an idea of what members of this forum think about such activities.

Ned,
You gotta admit... it got exciting, but off the topic, just like the Presidential polls did here in Florida last November.
However, I agree, let's stick to a very worthwhile topic.

I think TFAK is exactly Trojan First Aid Kit. I mistakenly voted for the latter. You need to add the two of these together to go the true results.

How many others of these are FREE? Thanks.

Would total 7 so far, at least half of what the leader is... Surprising it is The Cleaner. TDS-3, the one I use is close 2nd and 3rd.
