Re: Who moved my job? (link)

A news article on CNN the other day, reported that IBM has announced plans to outsource a large number of jobs overseas, joining the growing list of American companies who do so to lower labor costs. CNN asked that information re: American companies that are doing so be provided to them, as they claim to be compiling a list of company names on their website. (I briefly browsed their site, but was unable to locate said list. If someone runs across it, please post the link.)

Consumers are demanding lower prices for products and services, but will the labor cost reductions, at a cost to American labor, be passed on to the consumer? Personally, I don't mind paying slightly higher prices if it means saving the jobs of fellow Americans. The future isn't bright, however, as our current administration is pushing for the Fair Trade Agreement, which will only contribute to the downward spiral.

Here are a couple of additional articles re: the . Statistics, of course, can be manipulated accordingly, so you may want to read between the lines...

One of my many issues with the whole outsource American labor; our government has nothing in place to track it’s movement. Every prediction of what the future holds is anyone’s guess. Without any real knowledge or accurate predictions we continue to expand/negotiate new trade agreements.

We are not alone however. Jobs that left years ago to cheap labor markets in South America are now leaving there shores for the ultra-cheap Chinese.
