| Anyone Syncing Outlook to SBC-Yahoo Calendar?
I've got a client who wants to share his Outlook 2000 calendar with his secretary. It's a two person office so going to Exchange is out of the question.
One thought I had was using the SBC-Yahoo Intellisync to sync his Outlook calendar onto his SBC-Yahoo account. Anyone using this feature? I'd like some feedback as to ease of use, reliability, security, etc.
Thanks! |

| I don't know about using the Yahoo calender with Outlook but there are other (better?) options.
1) Open Outlook, select Tools->Options click Calendar Options then click Free/Busy Options. After you check Publish at my location you should be able to enter a shared resource, (ie directory) as a location.
2) On that same dialog there is an option to use Microsoft Office Internet Free/Busy service. You can check that out.
Good luck KK |

| Sorry, what you're looking for is what Outlook call Delegate access, and that requires Exchange server.
You will may need some third-party calendar prog if Exchange is out of the question.
The problem is classic, if you are unable to spend the money required to get what you need then one must make do with what they have.
In other words,
"If you can't be with the one you love, baby.
Love the one you're with."
Yahoo calendar let's you do what your asking, but not through outlook. But, you probably know that
(Expanding on the Free/busy thing) Another alternative is when the boss enters a new appointment the boss "invites" secretary as an "optional" or "resource" attendee, that way the appointment gets sent to the secretary and placed in his/her calendar.
If the secretary schedules an appointment she/he "invites" the boss as a "required" attendee, and lists herself as "optional" or "resource".
Happy Holidays! KK
P.S. Hey I usually get paid big bucks for this kind of advise. |

Well, that's just it....Yahoo Calendar does interface with Outlook, at least according to the info online. It does this using the Yahoo Intellisync utility, a free download. I just don't know anyone who has used it so that's why I'm looking for feedback. If it sucks then obviously I don't want to suggest it. But since it's part of the SBC-Yahoo package if it will do the job for "free" then it's a win-win situation.
Looks like I'm going to have to set up a test and try it myself. |

| Heh, thanks turbomkt, I'd already seen that page. Of course everything works the way it says on the Internet.
Thanks gdm, I think I'll give it a test shot so I know all the ins and outs before I unleash my client on it. |
