bring back the "topics joined" button on users pag

I noticed today that the "topics joined" button on a users page is gone. What is the reason for that? I can click on the "posts" tab, but that is such a mess since it lists every single post, sometimes several from within one thread.

Why was this taken away? I used it quite frequently myself..

On one hand, this IS Justins site, and I guess he can do any stinkin thing he wants to it. On the other, thousands of us have donated/bought tool points and premium accounts to support this site and hope that it can only get better. Its quite depressing when a change comes around that doesnt seem to make much sense, hasn't been asked or suggested by anybody in the request forum, and changes the way we used to do things on a daily basis.

Its no secret that many, many members here visit daily, often several times a day, every single day....for years! Its nice getting into a grove and being used to the same format and features on a site. When they change for no apparent reason, its a lot more noticeable to many people than I think Justin realizes.

Re: bring back the "topics joined" button on users

Would the "Follow" button suffice? You are automatically put onto the follow list whenever you join a thread.

That isn't what I am talking about.

say I have you as my buddy. That being the case, we have each other on our watched lists, so the element of "stalking" is out of the picture. If I was interested in knowing which threads you have joined, I have no direct way of doing so now. I "can" look at your posts tab, but that just shows the individual posts you made in a certain thread, but it doesnt even list the thread you joined, only the forum it is from.

Oh...I thought you were reffering to the postlist. Sorry for the confusion.

In that case, I'm *neutral* on this issue since I have no use for this feature myself.

Topics joined is the same as "followed" - what is wrong with that view? If you want to "stop following" a topic, then you can find it in posts. If you need to refer to it a lot, why "stop following" it?

Im talking about other users, not myself. If I have you justin as a buddy, how can I easily see which threads you've joined? I can't.

I know I can see your posts, but that only shows the single post you make, without any reference to the thread or reply you made to a thread. The Topics joined did just that and I used it all the time.

I am NOt talking about following users threads. I have no interest in following every thread that my "buddies" make, but I wish there was a nice and easy way to view the topics they have joined.

I searched the Security forum this afternoon for one thread. I didn't know the original poster, but I remembered a person that had contributed to the thread. I was unable to find the thread via search, because "search on posted by johndoe was still there" but not "topic that johndoe posted to later." Arrrgggg.

I can't assume that every thread that I read is something that I will need later.

One thing that may help is that on a member's page, you can now see 180 days of their topics and posts.

Yes sir. But not topics joined! I tried that in my search for a specific thread today. The member didn't start the topic, but joined it later.

You can see all their Posts (if you click "Posts" on their page). And if you have an idea of the thread title and/or time period, and you already know the forum, you may be able to find it.

I understand it is not exactly what you are requesting; it's just a suggestion that might help someone in a similar situation.

I know the forum and the time frame. There were several threads that were very similar to what I was looking for. It was a very long thread and I knew that johndoe posted to it. In the past, I could find what I needed with that information. I was very upset that I could not find the thread (however, got the info via other means).

In other forums (not DSLR) I can find what I'm looking for if remember that johndoe posted to that thread. Why are we not able to search using "posted to but didn't originate" the topic??

I agree, that was one of the features I used most.

In fact, I always used it on myself, but it was great seeing other peoples' topics. That's how I found lots of good topics in which to participate.

All due respect Shaggy....I would also like to **Object** to the misuse of the

While I may scratch my head a few times when certain features don't go as well as planned or the site has a burp now and then....the Accepted Answer idea was a wonderful addition to the site in more ways than one. Is it really necessary to abuse it in such a way just because you do not accept what justin See Profile is attempting to offer as a answer to your suggestion.

Actually, I was going through giving everyone a thumbs up and I didn't realize I was doing the Accepted Answer button until I refreshed the page. I just never bothered going back to change them.

I would like to then rescind my **Object** to my wrongful assumption in your use of the Accepted Answer
