[DSL] help me tweak my aol broadband dsl

i have aol broadband dsl and i cant make it better no matter how many times i try to tweak.

i have windows xp and i really dont know how to tweak. so plz help me

Internet connection:
aol broadband dsl

PPPoE:
i made a connection to connect to aol without using aol and my connection says WAN Miniport(pppoe). its a type of broadband connection to make, it said. so i think i might have it.

windows xp

im guessing my advertised speed is 1500

im 4811 feet away from CO

im not sharing my connection.

 Looks pretty good. Your RWIN is a little too high. Try this:

Download DrTcp
Set Tcp Receive Window to 32640
Set Windows Scaling, Time Stamping, Selective Acks, Path MTU Discovery, Black Hole Detection to Default.
Leave Max Duplicate Acks and TTL Blank
Save/Exit DrTcp
Reboot
Rerun both the tweaks test and speed test from the nearest city listed here: Speakeasy POPs

what adapter should i set the settings for.

1394 net adapter or national semiconductor corp. dp83815/816 10/100 macphyter pci adapter

my results after the tweak u gave me.

still no good.

would changing your network media and network buffer count effect the tweak. when i changed it awhile ago, i then got my dsl to connect to 100 mb instead of 10. so should i change it back inorder for the tweak to work.

clubs:		 When you calculate pppoe overhead, you are getting the best you'll get with your advertised speed. You are getting better than the expected 80% of the cap. Enjoy!

i used my dsl on my other cpu which is a windows 98 and a usb line from the modem to the cpu, i got about 5000

Your cap is 1536/288 you can't go above it, subtract overhead and look at your speed test, thats what you have there. Unless you upgrade to a higher tier service its not physically possible to reach anywhere close to 2000 not to mention 3000.

I GOT TO 5000 ON MY OTHER CPU BUT I USED USB CONNECTION INSTREAD OF ETHERNET LINE. HOW COME AND IT WAS WIN98

When you get the changes made, if you want a "tweak", please start your own thread with the data. The forum rules state, "one customer per thread". (Otherwise, it confuses the old coots that hang around here. )
