| Hooking up X Box to my Network
I'm currently running a Linksys wireless access point router with my DSL service. I have the DSL modem hooked to the Linksys which is in turn hard wired to the main computer. I have two other computers that are linked to the DSL through wireless USB adapters. I now want to be able to hook up X Box live through my DSL connection, This will be upstairs in a room with one of the computers hooked up to the network with a wireless connection. I was thinking of getting a Linksys switch and putting it in the attic. I would then wire the X Box to that switch and also disconnect the wireless adapter for that computer and hard wire the computer to the switch. I would then run a hard wire from the switch in the attic to the Linksys wireless access point router. Is this the best way to do this? I know you can buy a wireless adapter for the X Box, but it's very expensive and I was wondering about the reliability compared to a hard wire set up. Thanks for any input. |

You can use two cheap wireless routers as wireless AP's (by disabling all the routing features) to create a point-to-point wireless connection from the upstairs to the downstairs. Then connect the upstairs computer and the X-Box to the switched ports on the upstairs wireless router.

If you are looking forward for Wireless, then you can connect a Wireless Ethernet Adapter. They are as cheap as 89$, and could be much more cheaper if you club a rebate offer to it. |

a switch and a WET11 from linksys will do the trick, you hardwire the xbox and the computer to the switch and then plug the WET11 into the switch and configure the WET11 and once its all setup and bangin the WET11 will wireless bridge the wireless network and the computer and xbox and all will be well!
thats of course if you want to buy a WET11 and a switch, if not then, have fun in the attic hehe
