| Can't you get an order right?
I ask for DSL service, and the IOSMEDIA says it'll take me 1.5 weeks to get a DSL modem to me and get everything set up. This is as I expected. I ask for a dialup number I can use in the meantime.
When I get the dialup number from the tech support people, and they set up the dialup account, I'm told that I only get 20 hours a month of dialup with DSL. I know that I'm going to run this over in 1.5 weeks.
So, the next day, I call up the salesperson, and ask to change it to unlimited dialup for just this month. He has the hardest time understanding what I'm asking for. Then, he suddenly seems to get it, and tells me he'll take care of it. I also discover the alarming fact that the ISOMEDIA people can see my password, and that it's not stored as a hash or something. Good thing I was cautious and used a completely new password for them.
I get home, and try to login. My password has stopped working. I call tech support. It turns out that, even though he had the password sitting there, right in front of him, he dropped a letter from it when he asked for my account to change. The tech support guy assures me that my account now has unlimited usage.
Come Christmas Eve and suddenly, the system will no longer let me log in. The log messages state that it's simply refusing service to me, not that my password is wrong or anything. I can only conclude that I hit the 20 hour cap and it started refusing to let me connect. And, of course, there are no tech support people to call on Christmas Eve or Christmas.
I rely on the Internet to keep me connected to people. Imagine how angry phone customers would be if their phones stopped working on Christmas. I'm pretty upset with ISOMEDIA right now, and will probably be hunting for another ISP to use. |
