Mesa to increase residential speeds in 2004

Mesa is preparing to do something very cool in 2004.

They are currently testing out a speed increase to residential customers. I know that it will affect the residential plus account. The speed should go from 1M down / 500K up to 1.5M down and 500K up. At this time it appears to be a free speed bump but official details haven't been released.

Look for more information from Mesa in January.

Here is the official notice:

Dear Mesa Networks Customer,

Over the past couple months, we have been busy making improvements to our service offerings to provide a better value to our customers.

First, we recently upgraded the download speed of our residential service plans. These changes are currently in place.

The $58 per month service is now up to 1,500 Kbps download by 500 Kbps upload.* Previously, it was up to 1,000 Kbps down and 500 Kbps up.

The $44 per month serivce is now up to 1,000 Kbps download by 250 Kbps upload.* Previously, it was up to 500 Kbps down and 250 Kbps up.

Second, we are in the process of migrating to a new e-mail/web server. The new server will add new features such as spam filtering, a much better webmail application, and will be easier to use. As a result of this migration, we will also be slightly modifying our email and web site packages for the better. This migration will be completed in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for more details coming soon.

The Staff at Mesa Networks

*Actual speeds may vary and are not guaranteed. Many factors affect download speed, including the remote server, other traffic, your PC, and your router.

Yep, speed increase has taken affect. I'm now at 850-950 down and just over 250 up. When is the last time you got a free upgrade from a service provider?
