To Telus_Helper: your efforts have been greatly appreciated. I now see another post where a user has purchased software online, but was not able to get into the download site due to a 504 error; this sort of thing is NOT good news for e-commerce!
Have a fine weekend--catch up with next week.

someone at shaw is sending spam from telus as a attempt at payback but telus are a bit too fast at tech support regarding spam for it to be making a dent but hey that shaw group seems to be having a hell of lot of spam lately haven't they?

Telus tech support?

Following a message to the CRTC:

Calling Telus technical suppport for ADSL connection. A service adviser message at 10AM the 21. of January.

'Status update for January 24th'

Those guys don't even know what day it is! Never mind how to provide decent local service.

Looks like Telus support is on another planet. Mars?

hi guys.

it is important to state what your IP is and what the site is that you are trying to get to. including a traceroute helps as well.

I'm also in Surrey, BC I'm getting Gateway Timeout error 504 since yesterday. I called tech support this morning and was told they (Telus) are working on the problem. Any idea when it will be fix. The two sites I'm having Gateway Timeout error 504 are Stockwatch.com and Stockhouse.ca. These are my stock market sites and I would really appreciate being able to access them or I'll have no choice but go back to Shaw Cable.

I've determined that many sites connected (peered) with www.bc.net are also affected.

This includes www.peer1.net, www.sfu.ca (Simon Fraser University) www.ubc.ca (University of British Columbia), and even www.bchydro.com --- all of these sites I cannot reach.

I am located in Hope, BC, and apparently my logical path says my aggregation point is srrybc02 which is located in Newton, BC.

It almost appears that the proxy server can route http requests to/from its external gateway to the outside world, but in the case where a certain network has peered directly with Telus (like www.bc.net), the proxy server gets confused (by looping a few dozen times and them timing out with a gateway error).

I also phoned Telus, they said it had something to do with the servers on their side. They have to reindex the web and it will take another day or two.

I forgot to mention that North Delta is close to Surrey, BC. I'm also having trouble accessing the sites like www.hr.ubc.ca and douglasonline.ca (all university and college sites)

Can anyone offer a different DNS while Telus is fixing the problem?

I can't get to www.sfu.ca , www.ubc.ca , www.kwantlen.bc.ca , or www.uvic.ca... i guess telus doesn't want anyone to get an education!?!?

No seriously, I'm also getting the 504 error, this has been a major inconvenience as I do my homework online through the www.sfu.ca website, and as a result of not being able to access it I've been going to the local library.

I called telus tech support yesterday, the tech guy told how to renew my ip address... after that did nothing, he finally apologized and said it was a problem he couldn't fix, and that they were working on resolving it.

This is just silly.

Just read all the previous posts. Sounds pretty widespread,

Here's my:

IP address: 66.183.100.27
Default Gateway: 66.183.96.254

most of the bc sites seem to be unreachable.

After a few days now, I have noticed that of the websites that I cannot access due to this problem, I CAN access secured portions of those websites. Weird.
