After seeing some of these results on these first few pages I just had to post this. And I do not have fiber. Just the service that comes from their double play package (TV/Internet). |

Time Warner Cable Fiber -- Dallas, TX I'm the IS Manager and I had a 10/10 Fiber service here put in here at work in South Dallas by TWC. It was installed about 6 or so months ago and haven't had any issues at all! Always available, always fast and never had any outages! -- LOVE IT!
This speed test was conducted about 7:10a (CST) with everyone here @ work running it from the Dallas, TX Speakeasy Server. |

Re: Official Speed Tests Thread No cable companies around here, only AT&T and a few WISPs. This is a fiber connection that I understand shares capacity with another nearby school. I'll see if I can learn more about why it's that low - still, it's the best upload speed around here considering that the fastest HSI offering here is AT&T's "Elite" ADSL. -- Sprint MBB thru Millenicom Unlimited service - Novatel Ovation U760 (with coffee-can antenna, thanks Jim_in_VA) connected to a CTR-350. |
|
 | reply to Belinrahs Why the lousy upload speed? I would expect at least 35Mbps upload from a real fiber connection. Those speeds look like hybrid fiber-coax from a cable company. |

We just installed direct fiber to our local school system replacing 3 AT&T T1's and the speed increase art insane.

FTTB (hi-rise), Cat5e from Dmarc to each unit. 40mbps (dedicated) fiber circuit shared between 80-90 subscribers, being increased to 60mbps soon. All Cisco equipment (router, switches). |

Routing may not be ideal between LA and those speed test servers. Choose a speed test in dallas or atlanta or somewhere else closer and it would show better numbers. I ran the speed test from Dallas before, but I haven't posted it yet on here. Additionally, all LUS Fiber customers have 100Mb/s peer-to-peer intranet access.
There is also a local intranet speed test for testing performance within the network, which gave me a big surprise. Intially, I tested my in-network speed with the computer hooked up to my OpenWRT Linksys WRT54G router via the wired interface and received 32Mb/s down and 36Mb/s upload. After bypassing the router and connecting directly to my computer, the speed was 92Mb/s down and 96Mb/s upload. Up until now, the throughput of my router has been a non-issue, but now with the increased bandwidth, it presents a major bottleneck to sharing large files between my in-network friends. |
