Check with prwood  - he got a Sawtooth from Mac of All Trades and he seems to be happy. And if I recall the video problem with the Sawtooths has been cleared up with the release of 10.3.2. |

I know...I do it now on a B&W G3 450. It works great. I really just want to move to AGP graphics and get a more stable platform; the B&W locks up on me occasionally, my TiBook never does.
And I don't want to spend more time troubleshooting a potential hardware problem that in the end might be design-related, not something I could fix.
Seems like I remember there are problems with the Sawtooth and maybe the GigE versions. I'm interested if that's true and if there are other known issues with the older Macs.

| I know there have been discussions on this in the past but I couldn't find any with my searches.
I'm thinking of getting an older G4 and want some advice from you long-time Mac users.
1. What is the oldest G4 to consider for reliability and for compatibility with OS X: AGP Graphics, Gigabit Ethernet, Cube, Digital Audio, or QuickSilver? I've already ruled out the PCI Graphics
2. Will I see noticeable performance differences between a dual 450 and a 733/800? Primary uses are email and browsing with occasional iTunes, iPhoto and occasional light Photoshop.
