ethics$Premium join:2000-12-27 Brooklyn, NY | Meeow's Suggestion: Popki (Anti Pop Ups) Well, as many know my history Web Washer nor AdSubtract worked with window pop ups.
Meeow suggested Popki (and she uses that with Cookie Pal) and I just tried it.
Ran a VERY vigorous test with it also, the same tests as WW and AS but even more and guess what? The little tiny program works! Pretty cool since I am using IE 6.0 Beta and it still blocked out over 43 pop up windows (it keeps a record).
It's not fancy, nor pretty, nor does it do OTHER things WW and AS do but it blocks the Windows Pop ups dead in its tracks. Thanks Meeow!
Now, I've also purchased Cookie Pal a whole back but my problem is that it doesn't work with IE6. Cookie Pal said that onces IE6 comes out of Beta they will upgrade their software. In the meantime, if you use Opera, Cookie Pal DOES work with the new version (5.11) HOWEVER, Popki does NOT work with Opera.
LOL! Talk about being stuck!
Ill stick with the current configuration and continue using and testing with it. I think that once IE6 comes out of Beta I will have a good combo with Popki and Cookie Pal. -- Folding can save a life!

Hello ethics:
I was wondering if you can read through the Popki faq's and/or help section to find out if it works with an Aol 56K connection. My Mom needs it!!! Thanks. cj.
The second line that says 'Filtered Windows' is the Pop-up stats... [text was edited by author 2001-05-28 18:23:43]
BTW - I have no trouble so far with Pop-ups with WW. The .zip is a bitmap view and the second line where it says 'Filtered Windows' are the Pop-up stats.
Thanks for the post...

jack bGone FishingPremium,MVM join:2000-09-08 Cape Cod kudos:1 | CJ, this is from the readme: "PopKi will not change your browser settings or your network settings. PopKi will not interfere with any other networking or communications software. This program does not make changes to the registry or make any changes to your operating system. PopKi works entirely by scanning the open windows on your desktop and sending API (Application Programming Interface) messages back to the operating system."
So, as long as your Mom is using Netscape or IE browser(AOL uses IE) It'll work. Jack -- Get your DSLR shirts |

| reply to ethics$ This is a very no frills app. I found it about a month ago when I was looking for something to stop the popup ads. Nothing I had tried would work for every popup until I found this. I love it. It gives you control over popups and allows up to 12 windows to be open at the same time.
ps.. thanks for trying it out ethics! -- Help Us Find The Cure! DSL Reports Team Helix [text was edited by author 2001-05-28 18:33:48] |

| I have sent an IM to ethics. I'm sure something can be written up for it. I'm not very good at write ups so if ethics agrees, I'll let him do the writing. -- Help Us Find The Cure! DSL Reports Team Helix |

R2R NotPremium,MVM join:2000-09-18 Long Beach, CA kudos:1 | reply to ethics$ I'll have to look at this further. The previous anti-pop-up program I used required you to enter in all the sites that you did not want to pop-up. This was very labor intensive. This almost sounds too good to be true. How is it accomplishing this feat? Thanks. |
