Thanks for the reply. I've searched for spyware and viruses over the months because it's a habit of mine, and earlier today I tried connecting the modem through USB and got the same deal so I ruled out the NIC card and connecter there. Seems like everything is pointing at the modem so I'll most likely go out and buy another one and stop paying for the rental and accomplish two things at once hopefully. |

| reply to Elysium321 Yes the first hop is your modem and does appear to be the source of your problem. This does not mean that your modem is bad, just every 30 secs something causes communication between your pc and modem to spike.
Simple solutions: 1. Replace ethernet cable 2. Check for viruses and spyware 3. Test with another PC 4. Contact tech support to verify signal levels at modem 5. See if Cox will send out a tech w/ another modem to see if this is the problem or get another one somehow. |
