Lorex wireless camera and 802.11b :-(

I thought I would start a new thread. I have touched on this problem in my description of my »Update on my wireless link to get broadband thread but I feel I need more help and would like to sare.

I spent the better part of the holidays trouble shooting a non communicating bridge (2 DWL900AP+ rev.C and 14dBi directional pannels)

Turns out the problem was a Lorex wireless video monitor and camera.

The building is of a lumber cunstruction with metal sheeting exterior. There are plenty of noise sources: Arc welders, laithes, air compressors, etc. As well as many ballast equiped lighting.

When I first installed my receiving end AP and antenna, I mounted the 14dBi pannel as high as I could on the exterior wall of the building, keeping the antenna cable to it's original length of 6', I mounted the AP inside. I could not get a signal lock. Using my Orinoco laptop card, I found that I was getting a great deal of noise. The 900AP+ was configured to use the right antenna and I was using the latest firmware.

Assuming that the problem was the building not being grounded or something to do with the building itself, I decided to mount the antenna on a piece of 2x6 to un-ground it from the building, tested the AP (outside) and it worked. As soon as I brought the AP back in, lost bridge. We started to turn off breakers off one at a time until the signal became clear... As soon as the camera was turned off I got a strong and clear signal!

At this point I am open to suggestions, the business has a need for a live video feed into the back offices and the Lorex did a nice job (evan had audio) but unless I can rectify the interference problem, I'll have to look at alternatives. I am looking at the D-Link DSC-900 but I need more info... (like can it do live feed? not just web page updates every 5 seconds...)

Sorry for the long post.
For those that did not care to read the long post here is a short version:

yep, it does live
and if you hurry, you might still qualify for a $20 mail in rebate

fwiw; dlink has an ftp folder & application for DCS-900W (wireless) so I suspect it will be out soon in wireless too.

I am not sure if this helps, but I had an issue with interference from a TV wireless sender...ie one that allows you to send from yoru VCR etc to other TVs in the house.

I had had a very stable wireless setup with a laptop connecting to a wireless router, but one days the signal quality hit the deck.

Eventually and more by luck that judgement I switched of the video sender and WOW it all came back to life.

On my Video sender I could select 1 of 4 channels to use and luckily I found that at least one of the other channels did not interefere with my wireless LAN.

Does you camera have any similar settings?

Ian.
