1 edit | Dont you think if this is not legal in America (nobodys sure yet) and the riaa wants to start trouble..they have your credit card number that can be traced right back to you? If this service is somehow a loophole and is legal in America..it will give every single pay music service(napster,itunes,ect,ect..so many now!) a run for their lives..lol! |

| reply to WildGod this is 100% legal IN RUSSIA but they do NOT have the legal right to distribute music to any other country. if you are in the united states then downloading from them then yo are commiting no crime since there is still no legislation that prohibits the DOWNLOADING of content. as far as the question are they legally uploading to you, the answer is plain and simple NO, if you are outside of russia.
this is the exact same thing as the guys that legally sell VCD's in maylaysia. they have the legal right to sell them IN MAYLAYASIA but once they start shipping to the united states they are breaking the law. does that stop them from doing it? NO. does it stop them from letting you know they are only allowed to sell in maylayasia? NO. how do they get away with it? try starting a lawsuit against a maylatasian citizen from america, try starting a lawsuit against a russian citizen from america. you will find out real quick that our laws mean jack shit over there and its not exactly possible to force a foreign citizen to adhear to american laws and court judgements.
on a side note, the price sounds real good, doesnt it? well it sounds like a crappy price to me. 1 cent per megabyte times the approximate 100 megabytes that a full CD is and it costs $1 to download a full CD. well i can download a full cd from easynews FAR cheaper than that. take the $10 per month that easynews charges for 6 gig and divide that by 60 since there are sixty instances of 100 meg in 6 gig and you get 17 cents per hundred gig.
so you can download from an unauthorized vendor that pretends to have permission for $1 per CD, or you can download from an unauthorized vendor that makes no false claims for 17 cents per CD.
the choice is yours. i hope this helped you make a decision.
peace out, dumwaldo |

| reply to WildGod there is nothing to get from easynews so a subpoena is useless when there are no logs. easynews keeps absolutley no logs of what was downloaded by anybody, only the amount thats downloaded and if it was http or nntp that it was downloaded from. as far as downloading goes, easynews is about as secure as it gets.

Easynews DOES know who does what. they are in phoenix Anyway when someone posted a blaster variant using a 'carded easynews account' they knew who it was.(this was on our local news) they may not keep up on the downloaders but they'll roll over on ya if you do something serious by uploading(mostly kiddie porn or other serious violation) -- You can never be too rich, too thin or have too much Bandwidth |

dumwaldo Premium join:2001-03-12 | i did not say anything about uploading. as far as uploading goes they only keep logs for 48 hours.
like i said, easynews has no logs of what was downloaded by anybody.

| you don't have to give anybody your cc#, they take paypal. i've been a member for almost a year, downloaded about 40 gigs of music, mostly stuff i couldn't find anywhere else, no problems whatsoever. As an added benefit, they also let you select the encoding quality and even codec before you download, a feature that i've never seen anywhere else. in addition they offer a very handy download manager that automatically downloads the selected files and organizes them into folders neatly. great service, i highly recommend it. |
