Westell 2200 and Linksys Hub - Setup

Pleaseeeeeeeeeee can anyone tell me how to get a network networking with Westell 2200 and Linksys EFAH05W HUB (not a router or a switch but a hub). Have Linksys NIC's if that matters. Verizon wants me to go out and spend 100 bucks on a new linksys router and I see no need to waste good beer money on a new gadget.

The 2200 is a router so simply plug the hub into the 2200 and then your computers into the hub. Setup the 2200 for either DHCP or PPPoE as required and let the 2200 handle the LAN ip assignments.

Be sure to check that the 2200 firewall is turned on as when I got mine as I was turning it into a pure bridge (I have a router and do not need it as such) I saw it shipped with the firewall turned off.

Thanks for reply. I tried just plugging it in, with no result. I tried both the uplink port and one of the other 5 ports on the hub.

As to setting up the 2200 as PPPoE or DCHP, how would I know which I need and how would I do it?

Am I better off just biting the bullet and getting the router? I don't want to end up having to leave the "main" computer on in order to have the others work. I drink too much beer as it it.

Thanks in advance for reply.

Plug the modem directly to your computer and type in 192.168.1.1. That will take you to the setup. From there choose PPPoE and fill in your username and password. There is also a box for "Always Connected" check that.
From then on the Modem/router will do the logon. Then unplug the modem from the PC and plug it into the WAN connection of the hub and you should be good to go.

The Verizon 2200 user manual is here
