Why? Because you can... the sheer fun of making something do something else it wasn't designed for. If you could make this thing pull mp3s off a network drive it would make a neat little appliance.

But, I doubt you can.. that router ran on a form of embedded linux... as far as I know... the DTV modems did not. (I used to work there.)

For what purpose??? Hardly pocket portable, for home entertainment use why not just get a (pretty cheap) MP3 capable CD player?
