Yes it did just appear, a little birdie told me that something was about to happen so I've been checking regularly. I'm SO there if DSLX can make it happen with my account (I still have about a month left on my existing contract...). I don't mind downtime if that's necessary.
Can't beleive it.

SBC's got lots of RTs, and their 6000/608 service works great through them. I don't mind about the account information not changing, I'm probably going to live here until I'm old and gray.

IAmTheEvilestThere Is Nothing Like A Restart join:2001-01-03 Milpitas, CA | Well, the promo says the pricing is set "for life"... so maybe you will have the service until you are old and gray? -- The two biggest things: the universe & human stupidity --Albert Einstein |

You may choose a month to month contract with a $60.00 setup fee if that's your cup of tea. Any current client on an existing contract may cancel and renew on a new one year contract without an early termination penalty.
We are pretty excited to be able to offer this package at this price.

| reply to mrg123 It's quite possible as long as DSLX stays in business. I loved my old 4000/384 connection, I just hated the price this solves that! You also get a static IP for that $59. How can you beat that? It's cheaper than 1500/256-384/static service!!
I'll be curious to see what SBC offers their customers.

 | reply to mrg123 I have DSLX now but I am planning on moving about 2 miles away in 5 months. As I understand the guidelines of the promo, I would not be able to transfer the service evenif the new address qualifies and the same number is kept? -- The only perfect science is hind-sight. |

That is correct. This is a limited time promotion that must remain at the same location. We would be able to move the connection but you may not be able to get the promo rate if the promo is not currently running at that time. The promo is currently set for a limited time until 03/31/04.
As it states in the special requirements for that package:
"If you are still under a one year contract and there is a change in phone service you will have the choice of selecting any package offered in your area and completing the contract commitment at that package's then current month to month rate."

 | reply to mrg123 For life sounds...devastating.
Hell, in 10 years tops, we'll have fiber going through millions of homes by then. 6000Kbps down will look like child's play compared to fiber [it already does for those EXTREMELY lucky folks...] |

If you want the service until you are old an gray we would be happy to keep you. The for life simply means that there will be no increase in price on that package. This price is guaranteed for as long as you have the service.
With the month to month contract there is a setup fee of course.

I called you folks over a year back before I went with SBC, but you couldn't service my area (I'm on an RT in Folsom, near Sacramento).
Do you still not have access/do install for RT people in the Sacramento area?
I'd *love* to jump on board, but it says I'm not qualified. I'm fairly sure I'm closer than 8500 feet from my RT. My line stats say my line is capable of 5800/850, and the SBC techs said there's probably some minor line condition decreasing the downstream available sync rate that they could look into if I were to purchase their expert+ package. |

At this time this package is not available in your specific area. This package is only available to those in the following California SBC areas: (San Diego, the greater Los Angeles area, and the greater SF Bay Area.) |

pflogBueller? Bueller?Premium,MVM join:2001-09-01 El Dorado Hills, CA kudos:3 | ok, thanks for the info!
I wish I knew if this implied a similiar price drop for SBC...although I still am skeptical of static IP package price drops, which they haven't done since I've been watching the price. Their deluxe package is over twice the price, just for static IPs. Which is why your guys' package is so attractive
Anyway, thanks for the info. Guess it's back to waiting to see if SBC will provide a similiar price/service. |

 | reply to dslx_gm How good is the DSL Extreme's tech support?
I heard they were good in the beginning, but went downhill lately.
I might run from Comcast to take advantage of this promo. The only thing that concerns me a lot is the tech support.
I already had an experience several years ago with a small DSL provider called PacificNet, who, in case of a problem blamed everything on Pacific Bell (now SBC), while SBC, of course, pointed fingers to PacificNet, and I, the customer, was the one to suffer.
I just hope it is not the case with DSL Extreme. Any comments? |

 | reply to mrg123 The site says I don't qualify, but I know I'm on an RT and I'm located in the Los Angeles area.
Can I please IM someone at DSLExtreme to check my number?
Thanks -- Windows, OS X, Linux...it's ALL good! |
