Re: URGENT: New video card - Mac won't boot (well lets not spread it to another computer now..)
i do know that the pram battery being removed overnight works well for CUDA oldworld macs (like gossamer).
to me it seems to be more likely you knocked something loose while upgrading. so i think youve already reseated ram and i know you reseated card.
you will have to scrap up os 9 from somewhere - if you need it i think i can get it to you somehow. that will confirm if it is indeed a hardware issue or just something really bad with os x.
by the way, does the fan on the card kick in even slightly? its just a thought but it may so something. though i doubt it would overheat when starting up.
last thing to try is reseating the processor. -- The Original King of the Beige G3 The Air-Coolin', HD Spinnin' CD Burnin' G3 0wnz. Send Me Your Useless Mac Parts! The "Noise Killer" of the ATM Forum...:o RIH |

I seem to recall fronkman having some odd artifacting issues before he got his cube card running cool enough. -- just a minute |

Gonna do a new install of X tonight and see what happens. I have a second HD in the machine that I'm pretty sure I can erase and install fresh.
If that doesn't work, I can install 9 from the Restore disks that shipped with the machine.
Man, all this trouble just to play a little computer golf!
EDIT: Oh, and yes, the fan kicks in right away. |
