| Conflict between RASPPPOE and Win2k SP4?
Hi, I've been trying to solve this problem and need some help.
I installed RASPPPOE on my laptop in order to connect it (via a PC card) to my DSL modem (Siemens). I set up the software according to the directions and everything was GREAT! I connected and was downloading updates from the MS website with no problem.
Then I install SP4 and I have not been able to get access to the internet again ever since. I can connect to the network (t-online), but when I try to bring up any webpages, there is virtually no network traffic.
I tried uninstalling RASPPPOE and reinstalling, but to no avail. I've been searching (via my PC) the web for possible solutions (through google for RASPPPOE and ties to W2k), but the solutions I have found have not solved the problem.
I ran the ping program to dslreports.com and it worked, so I know there's communication available. I just don't know why A) I can't bring up any webpages (they time out) and B) the connection (traffic rate) is so slow.
Is there a conflict between RASPPPOE and SP4? Any suggestions for solutions to this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!! Best regards, Jackie |

I am running ZoneAlarm for my firewall, but its settings have not changed between the first time I was able to access the internet and now. |

| It's not as bad as you think, the great thing about win2k is that you can f**kup and then quickly uninstall... First step is to try to completely remove RASPPPoE, you already tried and failed (when i say remove i don't mean just unclick the checkbox). Second reinstall SP4 if you have to uninstall first. Then reinstall RASPPPoE, if this still fails then their may be a permanent registry error for that device, no problem just uninstall the device, i suggest restarting to make sure the settings are saved in CurrentControlSet1 registry entry. Then let windows reinstall the device, which will recreate new entries in thr registry. WOW are you ok so far.... Then Reinstall RASPPPoE, and if this still doesn't work check your settings VERY VERY CLOSELY, i mean no g's for q or 1 for l...I Promise you that RASPPPoE works with Win2K SP4 cause i use it on 3 different systems and it flies......and even boosted my overall internet performance....GOOD LUCK |
