donoreoPremium join:2002-05-30 North York, ON | 5262/5262 All lights on but will not connect I have two of these in fact, same thing on both. My Gnet/GVC modem connects fine. The model is 060-5262-013 Extended Reach Version. I cannot telnet into it at 10.0.0.1 like I should be able to according to the FAQ's.
Summary:
All lights on as should This means it syncs (VPI/VCI must be correct?) Cannot telnet into it
Suggestions? Thanks. -- I cannot deny anything I did not say |

All Model number 5260 with a part number of 060-5260-XXX or 060-5660-XXX had telnet available, but later model 5260 part numbered 060-5262-XXX do not have an IP or telnet interface. You have to talk to them using the MAC layer (which is what EnterNet 300 does).

donoreoPremium join:2002-05-30 North York, ON 1 edit | Thanks for that info. Does not run on XP? How about Linux, that is my other choice
I guess I will try it at work, I think we still have an old Win 98 P.O.S someplace.
EDIT: BTW, easy place to find this software? Google is not working for me (41 hits only, no download sites) -- I cannot deny anything I did not say |

donoreoPremium join:2002-05-30 North York, ON | I got the 1.5c version and the modems were set to 0/38 so now I have two working modems. Anything else I should need to do? Any firmware I may need?
Here is what EnterNet shows me:
Device Description : ARM7 SAR Alcatel/RT Adapter - Revision: Modem Software Versi : R2.1.0(12) May 18 2001 15:09:28 VPI : 0 VCI : 35 Status : 0 Physical State : On Line Frame State : Sync Tx Speed : 800000 Tx Packets : 1997 Tx Errors : 0 Tx Bytes : 833664 Rx Speed : 3488000 Rx Packets : 2607 Rx Errors : 0 Rx Bytes : 3102720
If I am reading this correctly, it has sync'd at 3448/800? -- I cannot deny anything I did not say |

Yes, that looks right at sync of 3448/800. You can test it here »/stest

johram join:2004-01-06 Colton, CA 2 edits | Dr. Olds, Thank you so much for your tips on these modems.
Mine is a SpeedStream 5260 model number 060-5262-006
I got ADSL when it first became available from PacBell. Since then Project Pronto has come to town and I'm now on an RT.
I've tried telnet and EnterNet 300 but neither work.
I've upgraded speed plans to DSLExtreme's great new 6000/608 plan but am only showing speeds of 1900/400 (at Network Interface Box).
Is there any way that sync settings or anything else on my modem could adversely affect connection speeds?
I'm 2,544 feet from an RT. I know there are factors beside modems. And I'm not saying that I'm SURE that the modem is adversely affecting speeds.
But I'm just wondering if you know if the "extended reach version" modem, meant for longer distances from CO's, performs worse than normal modems at closer distances (to RT).
thanks, johnny |

G-DMT DSL Modems are usually good for up to 8Mbps Downstream and 1Mbps Upstream if your copper can deliver it.
EnterNet 300 does work as seen in the previous posts in this thread above your post.

What you are supposed to do is put in the correct values for your ISP and set them by clicking OK. That's the only way you change it with a part number 5262.

johram join:2004-01-06 Colton, CA | correct settings? I've done that. But I'm a static ip customer not PPPoE. and I've manually entered my IP information but it doesn't connect.
I think I'll just let it be. Thanks, johnny |
