Of course they should, but many won't. They don't want their customers to know their actual speeds. When they get crappy results from an off-network speed test, the ISP can just blame it on that site. When it's on the ISP's network, there's nobody to blame but the ISP.

Download = 1168 Upload = 2235 (Yes, that's right, Upload).
Of course I'm not really at home on the WOW network. I'm at a hotel at Walt Disney World. If only I had something big that I needed to upload that fast.

| True WOW is very fast and cheaper than RR , at leat here in Columbus, Ohio. There is a new service being tested in England over the telephone service that well out perform any cable company here in America. The sad part is it was developed here in the U.S. with yours and mine tax dollars. So by the time it gets back here to America well pay like some private company invinted it. Opps and now the Electric companies have the green light to get into the ISP via the powerlines. LOL ...This is going to be great to see how it all pans out. But I tendint to bend towards the wireless sector myself.
Just one mans thoughts. XBYTE

| WOW is the way to go in Columbus, at least if that and Insight are the options. Not lived in a Warner RoadRunner area.
I hate Insight RR. I had so many outages and techs that came out over and over to fix speed related issues. It would be fine for months and then I'd start getting terrible speeds. They finally told me that it was something with my configuration... It's also pretty bad when I run ping tests and trace routes and tell RR tech support which router is having the issue. I did that on 3 or 4 occasions & each time it was a different router. I'd assume that IS Warner support when it's at the higher levels of the trace.
I got WOW and I've had 2 issues that were quickly resolved in the past 1 1/2 years. The only bad experience so far was their DNS was not updating locally & had no idea what I was talking about. I had registered a domain & it didn't show up for 2 weeks. Others I've registered are usually a day.
WOW cable is also great. Less outages on it as well compared to Insight. When I switched to the DVR, they screwed up my billing, I called and now I pay less with the DVR than I did with the standard digital package because they admitted to a mistake. Try that with Insight.

I had insight RR at my old place for about a year... It was aweful, I ended up going to SBC DSL (which was slower but more stable) I did not have the option of wow there..
I moved this June and the place I am at now has WOW and its FAST!! Ive had a few outages but they where not for long periods.. I love my 4mb down and 400 + up
The WOW speed tests are great, their located at the POP so your not routing out on the net to test, so its more accuriate then if you tested with Speakeasy or another DSLR site.

| Well, almost 1 month since the notice. No change. Up is 280, down is 1.7 to 2.1.:( I did call into tech support a while back. They "worked" on my modem but he couldn't "flash" it. He was sending it up to level 2. I've seen where if you don't "rent" a modem from them, you could be left out of the upgrade, which if is the case, I'm going back to comcast, both cable and internet. WOW already blew it on the VoIP thing since they never got back to me so I'm now with Sunrocket. I don't have anything invested in my email address so moving to another ISP is as simple as making a phone call. | |

according to misc speed tests i am running at anywhere from 1360-1760 instead of what 4000. The speed test on wow way's site stated i was at 2300, problem is the one before and after wow way's(misc sites)stated much lower!

| Re: WOW Speed Test Pages Hello
I have a question in regards to the different test pages. I've have used both of the following speed tests below (i.e. i live in the cleveland ohio area), and have seen drastic differences between the two.
For example, i'm paying for the advanced plan (i.e. 4000/ 500), and using the speed test from wideopenwest i'm seeing between 800/50 to 1500/550. However, with the speakeasy test i'm seeing between 1500/450 to 4400/600.
I understand that speeds will fluctuate throughout the day depending on the amount of active users, and i may have issues in regards to my connection due to the poor performance i'm seeing, but i'm curious about these speed tests in particular for the moment.
My question is why am i seeing such drastic differences between the two? Also, which test is more accurate?
Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

| I had problems with advertised speeds and actual...sometimes it would be good, sometimes terrible. tech support told me to empty my cache and such to no avail. Eventually I replaced the network cable between my cable modem and my wireless router and ever since I have had advertised speeds. | |
