Re: WOW Speed Test Pages

WOW is the way to go in Columbus, at least if that and Insight are the options. Not lived in a Warner RoadRunner area.

I hate Insight RR. I had so many outages and techs that came out over and over to fix speed related issues. It would be fine for months and then I'd start getting terrible speeds. They finally told me that it was something with my configuration... It's also pretty bad when I run ping tests and trace routes and tell RR tech support which router is having the issue. I did that on 3 or 4 occasions & each time it was a different router. I'd assume that IS Warner support when it's at the higher levels of the trace.

I got WOW and I've had 2 issues that were quickly resolved in the past 1 1/2 years. The only bad experience so far was their DNS was not updating locally & had no idea what I was talking about. I had registered a domain & it didn't show up for 2 weeks. Others I've registered are usually a day.

WOW cable is also great. Less outages on it as well compared to Insight. When I switched to the DVR, they screwed up my billing, I called and now I pay less with the DVR than I did with the standard digital package because they admitted to a mistake. Try that with Insight.

I had insight RR at my old place for about a year... It was aweful, I ended up going to SBC DSL (which was slower but more stable) I did not have the option of wow there..

I moved this June and the place I am at now has WOW and its FAST!! Ive had a few outages but they where not for long periods.. I love my 4mb down and 400 + up

The WOW speed tests are great, their located at the POP so your not routing out on the net to test, so its more accuriate then if you tested with Speakeasy or another DSLR site.

Here in the cable world we don't have "POPs", but the idea is right.

WOW's upload for Ultra (their 4 Mbps service) has been 500k for over a year.

Wow! Thanks for the info! You're a little late though, since those changes were made back in October 2003.

I'm guessing you have the Advanced package, if so those speeds are right on target.

I am getting only 378 down, 211 up today. Usually I exceed the 2000 of my package.

 Re: WOW Speed Test Pages.

Mine has improved since I updated my wireless devices (D-Link)

Maybe the 256 WEP affects it too?

Notice from WOW at the beginning of March. They were upping my 2mb speed to 4. Cool. Should be done by mar 11. I called last week to see what's up. The tech tried to "push" some changes to my modem. Didn't take. He was sending it to tier 2. No one has called me and I'm at 2mbs down and 251 up. I'm not holding my breath and waiting to hear what excuse they provide. Time to jump ship to Comcrap? Wait and see.

Re: WOW Speed Test Pages

Well, almost 1 month since the notice. No change. Up is 280, down is 1.7 to 2.1.:( I did call into tech support a while back. They "worked" on my modem but he couldn't "flash" it. He was sending it up to level 2. I've seen where if you don't "rent" a modem from them, you could be left out of the upgrade, which if is the case, I'm going back to comcast, both cable and internet. WOW already blew it on the VoIP thing since they never got back to me so I'm now with Sunrocket. I don't have anything invested in my email address so moving to another ISP is as simple as making a phone call.

Re: WOW Speed Test Pages!

Unusually good speed for a change. Saving to a USB 128MB stick it took a moment for 80Meg from OpenOffice.org.

Sometimes my Ultra feels like basic.
