Automatically connecting about 1/2 time.

I have an annoying problem. I have a Dell 5100 with the Dell Truemobile 1300b/g connecting through a Linksys WAP54G. About 1/2 the time I bring my laptop out of standby, I automatically connect to the AP. The other 1/2 the time, I get the dialog box telling me that 1 or more wireless networks are available. I have to click on the box and check the box to allow my computer to connect to an unsecured network. My AP is set up as the "preferred network".

Sometimes it will take 3 or 4 tries to get it to connect. The laptop is within 20 feet of the AP and signal is excellent. Is there a switch I missed somewhere to have it connect every time. I'm not sure, but I don't think I had this problem before I installed the Windows XP Wireless Update Pack.

Thanks in advance.

Turn off stand by and see if you have the same issue. With my networks wired and wireless "Standby" has always been more of a problem then its worth.
