make sure no other software is using your soundcard, persumly using wave out or direct sound out (im pretty sure cool edit uses wave out)update soundcard drivers aswell will help --»www.djmau108.com
reply to roy2k Also make sure Cool Edit is set to output in 48000Hz 16 bit stereo, not anything higher (unless you know your soundcard supports higher playback samplerates and bit depths).
