newdotnet--can't delete it?

Newdotnet inserts a dll into the LSP Chain, and removing Newdotnet itself without repairing the LSP Chain will leave you without internet access. A tool such as LSPFix (»cexx.org/lspfix.htm )can usually resolve this, but it's much easier to not have to deal with that.

Duly noted and bookmarked . . . for the next time.

thanx

Manual removal

A botched manual removal can result in you losing your network connection. Be very careful.

First you must deregister the Winsock2 Layered Service Provider installed by NewDotNet. LSPFix gives you an interface to this........

Can you elaborate on this?

I recently was elected to repair my boss's notebook computer which had newdotnet and 64 other pieces of spyware on it. The initial complaint from him was the inability to connect to the 'Net. My boss had made some bone-headed attempts to delete newdotnet & the uninstall was unavailable in Add/Remove Programs. Adaware & Spybot cleaned up most of the other spyware, but newdotnet was still showing up in HijackThis.

I eventually convinced him to backup/reformat/reinstall, but I'd like to know what newdotnet does to prevent 'Net connectivity on a botched uninstall?

See here: »To remove NewNet with the remover from the same co

Please be careful and do not use HijackThis to remove this program. Trying to remove this program manually any other way than the above could result in the loss of your internet connectivity.
