[scam] oemcd / ultra cheap software scams?I just received an email from another employee from oemcd.info about Windows XP and other software dirt cheap. I did a quick search and found only one website that reported it as spam sender. Does anyone know if this is a legit site (although it doesn't sound like it), or is it just another elaborate scam? |

At "best", it's a site that sells illegal software. Worst case, they'll steal your credit card info and go on a shopping spree.
Forward it to Microsoft - they have a vested interest in shutting these scammers down.

Thanks. I told the guys at the company not to bother as I saw a copy of 3D Studio MAX v6.0 for $80, which I know damned well just started shipping for around $5k. |

If they're selling OEM operating system software without requiring the purchase of computer hardware, then it most likely is software piracy. Newegg.com, for example, sells OEM versions of Windows XP SP1a for $91.00, but they won't allow you to buy it unless you also make a hardware purchase (motherboard & CPU) at the same time. |
