@net.au

We are testing a new antispam tool.

Hi All,

I understand some of you may look upon this as spam however please read the message first. We are currently ALPHA testing a new free spam product which we have taken the time to create simply because we are SO SICK OF SPAM that we thought something constructive needed to be done.

The only catch is that the software doesn't work unless we have people actually reporting the spam as it isn't based on algorithms or things like that. the software relies on people like yourselves reporting known spam to a network which is then queried when your mail is periodicly checked.

If you want to join in the effort please check it out on our site www.code-builders.com if not then that's o.k. as well.

Please note, there are bugs and we do release daily version updates at the moment to fix these. However at this point they are mostly harmless small fixes, nothing that will Delete your e-mail account!

We just wanted to do something instead of blocking IP ranges (ahem, spews).

Thanks all.
Chris.

Chris.

Chris.

You gotta be kidding.. slow for receiving email like the verification msg? The verification msg doesn't come with any movies, you know.
Welcome to DSLR, however, enjoy your stay!

Actually it wasn't the verification message which was the problem when downloading the e-mail. It was all the *other* messages in my inbox that takes the time.

Anyone for viagra?

Thanks for the welcome.

Tis ok,

We actually release several free products if you want "backup" we actually have a very popular other free product on the site called HTML Builder XP Lite - this is a HUGE HTML editor and has been free for quite some time.

The only PAY product on the site is The professional version of the HTML editor which is more like Dreamweaver.

Believe what you want, check out "HTML Builder XP" on google and see it is free, honestly we are only attempting to help the spam effort, you wouldn't believe how much spam we actually get (well you probably would). Anyway, it's up to you I understand the spam community is about the most sceptical of all as most are simply as sick of it as the rest and you must get tonnes of topics similar to this on the forum all the time.

We have the ability to produce software to really make a difference to regular users and we have / are doing it instead of complaining. As some would say we have chosen to use our abilities for "good" believe what you want.

We just want to make a difference..

Chris.

OK now that sounded a lot better.

That was a good start. However, I'm using BRIGHTMAIL's anti spam system and I quite like it. I hardly ever see spam anymore.. maybe 2 spam mails a day. That's damn good.

Neat.

Thats ok anything which stops the spam onslaught is worthwile. If you can provide us with any suggestions from your previous experiences with programs like what you use posting them here or on our forums would really help. We are still looking for idea's and are still developing. There is still those 2 spam e-mails that got through which shouldn't imho.

Have a great one. I won't be posting for the next few hours laptop battery is about to go

Chris.

From their site........

No Hawkers - Antispam is a peer-to-peer spam stopping solution. Using the same community technology that makes products like Kazzaa © and iMesh © some of the largest file sharing communities in the world No Hawkers - AntiSpam links you into every other person in the world using the software.

...... err clang clang clang.....file sharing, not exactly for the security conscious

My ISP uses Brightmail, and I'm not too impressed. I use the highest level of spam filtering (whitelisted addresses and domains)but I still get hundreds of "suspect" spams every week. Here are my ideas for filtering...Why does my spam filter allow messages with the non-obfuscated words like, penis, viagra, vicoden etc. etc. to get through? Geez, what person in their right mind would actually put those words in the subject line of a legit e-mail?

My second suggestion is that any subject line that includes my "user name" in the subject line should be marked as spam. Obviously an attempt by some spammer to "personalize" the subject line for some harvesting or dictionary operation. What I mean by this is that if my name is John Smith, and my e-mail address is jsmith007@myisp.com, a subject line with jsmith007 is immediately suspect: "Lowest mortgage for you jsmith007" or "Make $$$ from home jsmith007"

My third suggestion is that once my filtering software sees the 3rd or 4th identical subject line, delivered within some specified window of time, like, "HI!" or "BIGGER Pen1s with V1@gra GUARanteed" it would then delete all those identical spams.

I don't know... Brightmail filters out a LOOOOT of crap for me.

I can also check what it actually did filter out by logging into my bigfoot.com webmail account and checking the bulk mail folder.

Is brightmail free or is it some sort of service they subscribe to?

Unfortunately I don't know... from what I do know, however, Brightmail is a coorporate anti-spam solution only, meaning that only companies use it FOR their customers. It's not like you can download it and install it or anything like that... since I'm with Bigfoot.com and they use it, I get Brightmail anti-spam. It's pretty damn effective for me.
