I'm feeling ya here -- and comcast seems to be the worst of the major providers in creaky UI -- but we are own worst enemies. Too many people take whatever junk their CATV foists on them and never push for good stuff. I know it takes a lotta time and energy to keep up with this stuff and even more to fight your official locally-licensed provider, but I gotta believe if more people screamed SOMETHING might happen.
Example: Pioneer makes great little hi-def box with DVI out that Time Warner doles out like gold and absolutely will not give you a manual for (something about "voiding the warranty," seriously). So most folks get the horrid old SA box and think, "Gee, my hi-def is kinda weak, maybe I'll get DTV." So they still make work for themselves.
I say wherever you are, whomever or whatever you have, push like a crazy person for the best THEN switch if you hafta. You get the service you settle for. |

Amen to that. The Comcast/Time Warner/etc dvr is just trash compared to directivo. I cant wait for the day when DirecTV uses directivo as the standard receiver. |

I want a-la-carte pricing. I want HDTV, but don't want to subsidize everyone's ESPN and FOX SPORTS. I don't want to have to order 300 channels of crap to get HBO.

I like Comcast's HSI offering. It's relatively competitive. Their TV is still crap and it's WAY too expensive. The only reason I will touch them for TV is because of HDTV locals.
