On the crunching front....

Click for full size
..there's good news and bad news. The good news is none of our competitors have started using the Retro Cruncher design. The bad news is none of our teammates have either! This post marks the start of a new project code named Project HSOBARCBM(Hope some one builds a Retro Cruncher besides me). More details to follow in the near future.

Did you ever post instructions for building something similar to that?

I might give it a try, although I cannot remember if there was a previous thread on giving instructions.

I keep changing the design a little. This one is cheap but loaded with features. It runs an AMD 2500+ at 3200+. A 2500+ CPU is identical to the 3200+ just didn't pass their heat tests for some picky reason. Bonus- with this design according to a digital meter called Kill A Watt, it only uses 104 watts at 100% CPU usage! I've gotten a lot of PMs from people talking about building these inexpensive but powerful crunchers but not one picture has ever surfaced. A couple PMs said they look like they belong over at SETI, oh well.

$65- Bioastar M7NCG 400 offers:
6 channel surround sound
6 USB2.0 ports
GeForce4 on board video
10/100 on board LAN
supports 3200+ AMD

$85- 2500+ AMD CPU

those cases aren't really aesthetically pleasing; they look sharp too.

Hey Andrew,
Let's put your new cruncher and mine to the test... I got a P4 3.2 GHZ with 1 GIG of ram on its way to my house.

I am thinking of putting a couple of blades together this summer... Can you say I am addicted to DC projects?? he he he

Wow that box will get some great score! Most of mine don't have a gig of RAM since I've borrowed RAM from them to get new ones running.

I am thinking about coming back and doing some WUs for TD with my new toy I gotta feed my DC addiction. I think that I would be interested in building something like you have.. just a basic cruncher come summer.
