Can anyone recomend some good DNS servers for PA?

I have been experiencing slow page loading for my cable conection lately... I am testing in the 3 meg zone, but web pages take awhile to respond or load?

I am in eastern pa, Montgomery county to be exact... Can anyone recomend any good dns servers that work well with our cable conection here in PA?

I think that would help me out a tad, ya think?

Thanks
Spankey

Right now I am running the obtaining dns servers and they are:

68.80.0.5
68.80.0.6

If that helps any?

I believe he is asking for any other DNS servers other than the ones set by default when pulling a lease from the DHCP server.

I'm in PA and use 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2 and can't remember the last time I was on Comcast DNS.

These work fine for me:

4.2.2.1
4.2.2.2
4.2.2.3
4.2.2.4
4.2.2.5
4.2.2.6

Spankey,

I'm Central PA and have the same issue -- speed tests show that I'm close to the 3mbit, but pages are slow to start loading. Although, since the upgrade, I haven't tweaked any settings.

Thanks, I will try them.. Is there a way to add all of them. Or can you only add two at a time in the properties section of networking?

Thanks again!

A new backup one to use is 68.80.0.12. It's a 3rd DNS server Comcast set up.

Try that one as well.

Actually, you can add as many as you want by clicking the Advanced... button on the TCP/IP Properties window and then the DNS tab. You may also order them.

Would entering alternate DNS's solve a problem such as this? Last week Comcast was down in my area one morning because i could not establish find a DNS. If I had used the ones listed above, should I have been able to connect?

It is very likely, however if your service connection itself is down it won't help of course.

Broadband connection was green as can be, but it couldn't find a valid DNS. I'll have to save these for an emergency.

Re: Can anyone recomend some good DNS servers for

One thing to keep in mind is that it would be best to ping each dns server and see which offers the best response time. Put that one as the first.

Will this help in poor upload cases?

A DNS Server will not help with throughput other than it can speed up how long it takes to look up a name and get the IP address associated with it. Once the IP address is obtained the DNS server is not touched again until such time that you need to lookup another name.
