| [XP] Problem deleting printer(s) Hi all, I installed a new printer (usb) and the install went fine. I went to delete the old printer out of the printer folder, hit delete and was expecting the old reference to disappear, but it did not... Anyone out there have any idea what might be going on?
Thank you for your time and consideration

| Re: [XP] Problem deleting printer(s) Is the old printer set as your "default" printer? If so, I'd recommend changing your "default" printer to your new printer, then try deleting the old printer. I remember this being a problem in Win 9X and W2K Professional, but haven't had the need to delete any printers in WinXP, so I don't know if that little glitch has been cleared or not. -- Earthlink/Direcway SRS - DW4000 | ver. 4.2.1.10 | Proxy/Port 83 | G4R | 970 | Dell Dimension 4550 - WinXP Pro SP1 - 768MB Ram |ZA+ 4.5 | AVG 7.0 - Resident | Bit Defender 7.1 Free - On-Demand |TDS-3 | Ad-Aware | SpyBot S&D | MailWasher Pro | |

| Check the Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs window and see if your old printer is listed there. If so, uninstall it and then reboot.
A lot of times, printers have their own installs (Example: Ink monitor that runs in task bar) These should always be uninstalled if the printer is getting permanently disconnected. -- "Back off man, I'm a scientist." | |
