1.5 service

Talked to a young lady in Pocatello, ID. She looked at my stuff, asked about my 678, said it would work, talked offline to someone, said the 13th of Feb it would be done.

NO charges, NO bill changes. Have a nice day and thank you for using Qwest service.

Too bad I am married, she sounded nice .

Nice, I had a similar experience. Signed up for the speed increase, should be done within 5 business days. Nice!

Same experience with Qwest this morning, due date for switch is 5 business days.
Also discovered with the local changes in remote terminals, line qualified for all service packages (up to 7 Mbps).
Let's hope it lives up to the "hype".

Grrrr...

Oh boy, this is going to be fun...
I have the Qwest/MSN package. I called Qwest about the upgrade and talked to some 14 year old kid who said "like" every other word. He said I first have to, like, call MSN and, like, cancel my subscription. ??? I questioned him and got to the understanding that I at least have to call MSN and have them handle the upgrade first. No problem, makes sense. So I call MSN and they tell me because it's a deal with Qwest, Qwest has to handle the account. For the sake of my sanity I think I should wait a week or so for everyone to figure out what's going on.

Called Qwest back and got another guy who had no idea what I'm talking about. I guess that's it for now. :P

Re: 1.5 service

I just ordered 1.5M/1M service. The Qwest fee is waived and the order will be processed in 5 business days starting this coming Monday. I was told to expect the upgraded service no sooner than the following Monday Feb 16. I asked for a more direct number to Sales for requesting the upgrade and was given:

EDIT: Use the number supplied below by AkumalDave See Profile
800-244-1111 & follow the prompts

Enjoy!

Try again later, the lady I talked to did not know what I was talking about, but when I said it was on the ghost site and became effective at midnight, she looked it up. Plus a later call may get you to a different call center...

Ordered mine this morning. The rep said it should be active within 5 business days. He said they're getting a ton of calls this morning about it. He also said a tech would have to come out and check my lines to make sure the upgrade wouldn't actually SLOW my connection down. Anyone know why it might do that?

They're a little confused over there, but did eventually take my order. 5 days out, as expected.

My techs are reporting pretty much the same responses we're seeing here. Most people are having little or no trouble getting it ordered, others are getting utterly bizarre responses (like, "oh, we can only take new service orders on Saturday, sir"). Our suggestion thus far, if you don't get an order taken, kick back, grab a cup of coffee, and try again.

Tried that number, but it sent me to the voicemail box for a Ms. Sinclair. Called the 800-244-1111 line and entered options:

1 (existing Qwest customer)
2 (change to existing service)
2 (similar option)

and got through to "John", who said I was his first DSL upgrade order and asked for my patience. The process took less than 2 minutes to complete and my service is supposed to be upgraded on 02-16-2004. He didn't try to switch my ISP, verified my existing "modem" was fine and that no Tech truck roll was required. He's sending me the "Welcome" letter and CD, just in case there was some nuance not mentioned in his database. Think I'll have to cycle my Cisco 678 in order to renegotiate the speed?

Kudos to Qwest, if this thing goes off as advertised. My ISP says to expect closer to 1MB up. For the same price as 640/256, I won't complain!

We're all set-up here in Minneapolis. 5 business days, no charges, nothing
special. Excellent.

Well, called again, and since it is a later time it was available anyway, 5 business days to get new modem & then voila I should be up kevin said. Call took about 15 minutes, but was not too bad. I guess my new modem will be the upgraded actiontec?

Just ordered new service. Spoke to somebody who tried to upsell me phone services, then "everybody gets 256" msn service, ordered dsl deluxe 1.5 with my choice of ISPs. Told them I had a "qwest approved modem" when asked, said it was a Cisco, and that was it (I've got a 677). 5-7 days quoted for my service to be online.

It'll be great to have broadband again.:)

My Rep said there *might* be a $9.99 Service Change Fee applied (to Minnesota accounts). I said that I was under the impression that Qwest was waiving that fee. He then said that, should the fee "actually appear" on my bill, I should call and they would waive it. We'll know more after the next billing cycle.

Regarding the other post about upselling, my Rep did offer me Qwest's Long Distance Service (newly available in Minnesota). Can't blame them for trying and it's no different than what Credit Card providers do when you call about something. To throw Qwest a bone for their recent good deeds, I did switch over both our lines to their L.D.. No big deal, we usually do L.D. via cell anyway.

Qwest Q&A
Q: Will current CAP customers qualify for the up to 1.5M service?

A: There is a limitation on the CAP DSLAMs. Current CAP customers may qualify for the new up to 1.5M speed, however they will need to switch to the DMT service if they want to receive the new up to 1.5M service. They may purchase a DMT modem for $59.99 or rent a DMT modem at $3/month. Current CAP customers are not required to change to DMT if maintaining current service.

Or you can look at the tariff:

»tabb.qwest.com/PPNB.NSF/dc8f684c···Document

click on the middle PDF link at the bottom, go to page 15 (par 4.4.1 B.1 continued) and read the bad news about CAP.

@qwest.net
That is bad news for CAP. Oh well, I will ahve to see if I can live without my 675/CAP for 1.5/1.0...
It's not really that hard of a decision.

I have read that 677's work as well? Confirmed?

Thanks for all your help guys.
