Re: Help Me Im stuck dealing with idiots of PacBel

i switched from telocity to earthlink/covad...
so so connection but i am just waiting till cable is available then i am getting out of the contract with earthlink...look for my previous posts regarding my line quality issues...
verizon is in control of the wires...and the quality of the wires are horrible.
They wont replace them because i am not a verizon dsl customer... i cant be one because covad was designated a last mile carrier...
Food for thought...do you think verizon used profiling to determine which areas to resell to 3 parties like covad.
Norristown is not know as a technology mecca in the philly area so they figured why not let some 3rd party handle it...

Man, I wish I could help you. I'm up to my rear end in my own mess with Verizon, but I haven't gotten to the point yet where I've given in to the temptation to accept miserable service from the ILEC.

I thought of going with Covad but arent they in big financial trouble as well, I dont want to switch to them only to have to go thru the whole Northpoint fiasco again.

I guess that as Northpoint customer you had dedicated conditioned line especially for DSL, not used you regular phone line. It may be 15000 ft long while your regular line may go around of town and be 22000 - nothing strange.
PacBell intends to use your regular pone line and found out it is unacceptable (for some reason).
Try to explain people at PacBell that you have separate line coming to your house that was already used for DSL (Of course if I'm right and you have one). It can make them think and do something for you.

I have been down since the Northpoint Fiasco at the end of March. I was with Telocity and now have been trying to get back up since then and have been stuck using NetZero since. I know its not Telocity's fault as they are waiting for Pac Bell who has given them no answer and done nothing regarding my account. I placed an order with Pac Bell directly figuring I just want my service back I dont care with whom. I was supposed to be up with Pac Bell on 5/2 and of course they are just giving me the run around and finnaly I get answer and someone tells me today that they have me at 20,000 plus feet from the CO. I am at most 15,000 the long way, they have my distance off by over a mile and now they say I most likely will be denied service and of course they will most likely deny me for Telocity as well. I have yelled at so many stupid Customer Service reps its just getting more and more frustrating is there anything I can do. I mean I already had service with Telocity before how freaking stupid are the people at Pacific Bell anyways, dare I ask. And then to piss me off even more I get an ad from them in the mail today saying DSL is available in your area call now. Jesus, this has the be one of the most moronic companies I have ever dealt with. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
