Cisco 677...

I have read here that some people have successfully used the 677. What is different about this modem? Does it have anything to do with ISDN, I read somewhere that it works with ISDN lines which I have no idea why you would have DSL and ISDN??

Theres two different 677's a 677 and a 677i the i is the isdn model that only works over isdn lines. and the regular 677 is compatible with regular phone lines much like a 678 is 677 will not do the older cap technology. If you have a newer line (installed within the past 1.5-2 years then you have a DMT line)

If you're looking on eBay for a Cisco 677. Don't get the 677i, as Alien000 pointed out!

I use a 677 on my DMT line and it's great!

Just a question, will the 2.4.6 firmware work ok with the 677? I just had to change from CAP to DMT so my 675 won't work, but I wanted to be sure the qwest firmware download *should* work fine on the 677 before I purchased one.

If you find the 2.4.6 image for the 677 please let me know where.
I'm told that the one for the 678 doesn't work on 677's.
