UBR924 for Comcast

Hi

I am desperatly need help here. I just bought cisco ubr924 from ebay. I want to use it with comcast in Corvallis, Oregon area.
Comcast people asked me to connect my modem then used it browsing »sas.attbi.com so I can get my new modem registed by myself. But when I put new modem in. I can never get CATV, DS and US leds turn on. I changed my IOS to be version 12.2 it does not help again.
I use command "debug cable-modem mac log". It gave me this following message and keep coming more and more. Is this mean my tuner for cable-modem is bad right? Or this modem is not support by comcast. Can any one tell me? And how can I fix it?

Did it come loaded with a config file already ? Usually the default cisco config allows you to range and lock just like a cable modem. It looks like your config is looking for one freq only.

Have you looked in enable mode and done a show run ?

Another useful command "show docsis cable 0 state" or "show docsis cable 0" .

You need to do a wri erase and reload your router.. then it should come back up.. looks like they had setup the config for routing mode before they sent it to you on their network. The write erase and reload will bring it back into bridging mode with it autodetecting your HSI frequency, then locking on.

Have you had high speed internet at your house before with a different modem?

Yes, I did that. I also try change my IOS from 12.1 to 12.2. Until now that LINK led is still blinking. CATV, DS,US leds do not turn on yet. I suspect my cable modem is bad.

I have beed using rental cable modem from comcast for two years. I am interesting in ubr924 because it cheap plus I can use H.323 with my friend who is using netmeeting.

Are there anything I can do? I am now doubt that is my modem bad or comcast is not supporting is kind of cable modem. Because I can see only ubr905 and ubr925 in comcast compatible list.

Tha is just the modem ranging for a channel to lock on . Here is a log off my 905 ubr as it ranges. I pulled rf all and ran the same command debug cable-modem mac log

*Mar 1 00:03:49.555: 229.556 CMAC_LOG_DS_NO_QAM_FEC_LOCK 229
761400n
*Mar 1 00:03:50.687: 230.688 CMAC_LOG_DS_NO_QAM_FEC_LOCK 235
761700o de
*Mar 1 00:03:51.819: 231.820 CMAC_LOG_DS_NO_QAM_FEC_LOCK 241
762000
*Mar 1 00:03:51.823: 231.824 CMAC_LOG_DS_TUNER_KEEPALIVE b
*Mar 1 00:03:52.955: 232.956 CMAC_LOG_DS_NO_QAM_FEC_LOCK 247
762300u
*Mar 1 00:03:54.091: 234.092 CMAC_LOG_DS_NO_QAM_FEC_LOCK 25

Note the log goes up in steps. Plug in your working cable modem and look for the US /DS freq it may just have not found the channel yet. These dont lock up as quick as a regular cable modem.

Hi Tazman68

Thank you very much for your answer.
How long does it take for lock up for normal ubr modem? Now I leave it for 30 mins same debug message still coming on.

Well that is too long, that much I can say I have seen my 905 minus a config take up 5 min atime to lock on a us/ds.But I think you may find your answers in this thread. If not "Covenant" seem well versed in 924s and recommended some sh commands in the thread for a similar issue to yours.
