Re: Bios has bad info for HD

Thanks, I'll try the CMOS clearing and let you know tomorrow if it worked.

Try clearing the CMOS just to make sure it isn't something simple. Even though it's a new board, one bad boot can cause it to need to be refreshed to not 'remember' the bad boot.

I bought a new MB, DFI NFII 400-AL, with AMD 2500+ and installed my old 80 gig HD, which bios recognizes, but which cannot be accessed. The CYL, HD, & SECT readings are not the same as in my old MB. Re-installed on the old MB and it works fine. Istalled an older HD with W98 and worked fine.
The new MB Bios is Phoenix Award v6.00 PG. I can find no way to modify the noted settings as there are only four options in the Bios, Auto, CHS, LBA, & Large, none of which will allow access to the HD. The old MB Bios allowed a User option to set the noted readings.

Any ideas,
Thanks, bmwnut
