I made a comment on the board here a few months ago that Verizon can't see anything because of where they have their head. Sounds like it still goes.
I was TRENCHED for my Northpoint line, it took a hour and was done by some contractor. They only buried the line about 6 - 8 inches down. The machine makes a slice in the ground and shoves the cable in. I swore at the time, the only reason the line ever got installed was the Verizon field installer. He co-ordinated everything. Any call to Verizon's office was totally useless.
Of course now I have a new telephone cable and no DSL but that's another story.
Have you complained to the PA PUC. Just to get another complaint on record.
Good luck getting FOC'ed.

Anon | Now we're trying with Covad
Megapath has given up hope of getting service through Rhythms, and they have put in an order for Covad.
And it doesn't seem that DSLReports is allowing any new threads on the Northpoint board. -- Hello. My name is Chipinphilly. You killed my DSL. Prepare to die. |

Anon | New World's Speed Record for rejection?
Guess what? Verizon can't find us!
I think maybe, just maybe, trying through Covad isn't going to do squat. -- Hello. My name is Chipinphilly. You killed my DSL. Prepare to die. |

| Chip,
Verizon is the damn problem. I've now tried 5 different providers and I've suddenly gone from Northpoint's 12,000 feet to Verizon's 18,000-19,000 feet. They won't even install ISDN because they claim I'm too far. READ ISDN, NOT IDSL (which I also can't get because of Verizon).
I had 416/416 SDSL service and, at one time, was at 784/784 -- I ask you . . . how the hell did I get 700+ at 18,000 feet. IT IS NOT TECHNICALLY POSSIBLE. Add to that that I have no load coils and it is perfectly clear that I'm well inside 18,000 feet.
I'm working with Verizon right now on this issue, but I'm leaning toward a lawsuit. I have literally talked to 15 different Verizon reps and have gotten at least 10 different answers. The best one is that I never really had DSL and that I must have just had a fast modem connection. That's the best yet. . .
By virtue of their actions, Verizon is preventing me from any competing service. I find providers willing to provide the service, regardless of the distance, and Verizon refuses them a clean loop. They refuse to 'hot swap' the Northpoint line because my old ISP is in Chapter 11 -- Verizon claims it cannot legally touch the line and the old ISP will not (really cannot) release it.
Sadly enough, I've come to the opinion that they cannot be trusted or believed. Heck, I'd take their ADSL service if they'd only allow me to. |

Anon | I'm in with you on a lawsuit if you're interested. I'm sure we could get enough people out of here for a class-action to attempt to force Verizon to allow new DSL through.
The death of Northpoint and the assumption of AT&T of their equipment seems to have emboldened them to undertake a forced "long knife" action against their CLEC competition and their would-be end users. -- Hello. My name is Chipinphilly. You killed my DSL. Prepare to die. |

| I also have been going around with Verizon and there inability to get my line free from the Northpoint problem, delt with this for 45 days trying to get Dsli up and running without any luck. One of the DSL people from Verizon even told me to change my number and the problem would be gone. Wrong answer still took about a week from that to get the dsl issue cleared up. As of now stuck on 56K and waiting till the end of the month when Comcast @home is up and running in my area. But would love to talk more about class action again Verizon. Without fail the worse people I ever had to deal with. |
