if you want the reciver to control more than one tv and only have one wire running to the reciver from the point where all the other wires are you will want what called a splitter/combiner. you can put one behind the reciver and the other where at the point where all the wires are. behind the reciver the side with one connection will connect to the wall. One the side with two ends one will connect to the satellite in and one will connect to the tv out. where all the wires meet you will place another combiner. the side with one end will connect to the wire going into the house, on the side with two ends one will connect to the wire comming from the dish and the other is where you will be able to connect other tvs to. |

Close, but technically not correct. What he wants is a diplexer (or diplexor depending on who's spelling it.) A splitter/combiner won't work correctly.
A diagram of what you want things to look like is below:
I do something similar at my house. I have one wire going from the dish to my living room receiver. I also have one wire going from my dish to my bedroom receiver. I have each line diplexed to carry my OTA antenna signal. In addition to carrying my locals "down" the line, my xbox also sends a signal "up" the living room line and back down the bedroom line. That way I can stream a video from my XBox to my bedroom without having to move the Xbox. |
