Re: [XP] Advanced Micro Devices: Windows Update The version on mine is 5.1.2600.1152 - dated 12/17/2002. So, I would think that .2600.28 would be a later version, yet a visit to Microsoft does not offer me an update. How odd.

Just after installing Microsoft's AMD-K7 processor update that was released onto Windows Update in February 2004...it turns out that the update is over 2 years old! However the file IS IN FACT a NEWER update to the original driver that comes with XP PRO.
Get this:
Another processor update has been released AGAIN... and wandered onto Windows Update during a routine scan. The driver update (although old, but not as old as the first update) has newer file versions and is more up to date.

amd7k.sys (a new file) has been introduced into the details tab to add the power managment..registry entries are also corrected.
I personaly took the plunge AGIAN... updated, and all is functioning well! The file size is TINY! 35KB (compressed/approx size)

In the ADVANCED file version tab, I'm noticing that they are sp2 driver releases...or something like that. PRE-XPSP2 driver.
This is weird. 
Any luck with install?
I have had "NO PROBLEMS".
