| To be "100%" safe never switch on your computer and burn it.
To be as much as possible secure (to tend toward 100% without to be 100%) you will need many software, i let people advice you on which to install.
think mainly to : Anti-Virus, Anti-Trojans, Anti-Spyware, Firewall, Sandboxe, and also process protection (i only know Process Guard).
You can do more than that, but at least begin after we'll see |

| reply to HomeLvr I think even before you do that..you should do everything you can first to secure that XP Pro OS ..lock it down etc since XP out of the box is a magnet for problems.. both of these threads will give you all the tricks and cautions.

| reply to HomeLvr Hope you don't connect it to the Inet until you have it basic firewalled by a router, SW forewall or ICF.. Hate to see you get bombed after all that work.

| reply to HomeLvr your right about that. Have had firewalls since I reformatted. a new admin account suddenly appeared called ktfod I deleted it then I went into network connections and both adapters show as if they need repair. I click repair and it still allows me to click repair. Win xp firewall wont enable either.
Shows a pop up error box saying:
An error occured while Internet Connection Sharing was being enabled. The service cannot accept control messages at this time |

| If you want, here's a doc that mat be helpful. After you get your system cleaned up off line, a really basic step-by-step document (Acrobat format) to pre-firewall the ol' XP box.

| reply to HomeLvr Ok ive tried to get rid of as many viruses as possible seems like even after all the scans some still reappear (after reboot that one that adds a new admin account appears) and why is it that in network connections I can repair the ethernet adapter all the time now? side effect of a trojan or something? |
