Wow! Do you mind running the DocsDiag Program on your cable modem?

»/faq/8421

Don't worry about the title, it works with all Cable Modems, then when it extracts the data from the modem, either copy and paste it here or create a screenshot so we can take a look at the QoS Upstream/Downstream Bandwidth
Numbers.

664 kb/sec = 5312kbps

said by sterilegenie:
Im sure this is "BS", RR does not even offer that speed on any of its tiers. Nice try!

Slow down there, Yes Road Runner can infact upgrade/provide thos speeds, just like certain Ohio Domains mysteriously got the 512kbps upload speeds....

said by BBACIS:
It's not BS. TWC, Raleigh Division, is conducting a "comprehensive speed test." The cap has been raised from 3000/384 kbps to 6000/512 kbps.

How did you find out about Raleigh Division conducting a "comprehensive speed test"? BTW Nice Speeds Hopefully New York City will get them

Make sure your PC is connected DIRECTLY to the modem.

Don't do it, It doesn't work, connect your modem directly to your NIC, I've tested it out through Linksys and it doesn't work.

I think RR disables the ability of the CM to respond to this program. Could be wrong though.

I noticed a few people have done it, I only know it's disabled via Toshiba PCX2600 Cable Modem.

some have been able to use it before the CM syncs up. not sure if you get any info about what speeds are set at this way though.

The Config File is stored inside of the Cable Modem so it should be able to extract the information out.

Right, but the problem is, the information is extracted by querying the modem via SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol). RR config files either disable SNMP or change it to require a community string that we don't know (in effect, a password). So once a modem syncs with RR, DocsDiag stops working. I've tested this, and sure enough, DocsDiag works during my modem's startup, and stops working as soon as the modem syncs.

I have to agree with you on this, I've tried that method too.

I understand now, when I had the PCX1100U(Currently with the 2600), I didn't even run the DocsDiag program so wasn't sure if it was disabled or not...Thanks for the information though.
