 No more High Speed

Just got off the phone with AOL, a rep told me as of January 31st AOL stopped taking orders for broadband. Apparently they're sticking to the AOL for Broadband approach. I was told if I want AOL cable Time Warner would be able to provide that for me. All of the current subscribers will be grandfathered in and their service will remain intact, but if it's ever terminated for whatever reason they won't be able to get it back or reorder.

Thanks for the information KevNYC See Profile, AOL really is not in a good position right now, everyone wants to cancel with them, etc(Broadband). This applies to AOL DSL also...Or just AOL Cable?

i am stunned. this is a very surprising move. so are you telling me AOL is content just providing BYOA? i find this hard to believe (not what your reporting explicit) just the fact that this is AOL's new strategy.

no, anything but, aol broadband is alive and well. they are no longer offering aol dsl or aol cable. so you can get either dial-up or byoa.

Does this mean that a new AOL broadband subscriber would have to pay the full shot for T-W cable + 14.95 per month, or will it be incorporated into one bill of approximately $44.95 per month? Also, are Comcast customers, for example, out in the cold? Or are they just presumed to be so savvy that they won't want AOL anyway?

I'm not sure I understand, AOL offers a cable connection through Time Warner for $44.95/$54.95 per month. Then there is the AOL for Broadband service that can be used on any connection whether it be Comcast Cable or SBC DSL, etc.

I have had AOL for Broadband Cable for three years now. I am on the $44.95 a month plan with AOL because I don't use dial-up. It appears that my plan will be grandfathered in and I won't loose my service. But if I leave and want to come back, I have to get Road Runner of SBC/Yahoo DSL and pay for BYOA.

No, you would be able to call Time Warner and order it as they still offer AOL Cable.
