| How buggy is the DSLR forum search engine? Somehow, I can never really get the search engine to produce any meaningfull results. Maybe I am using it wrong:
»/sitesearch
Two examples: search 1: Search: netbios Posted by: "blank" Search in Forum: "Netgear/ZyXEL" Search in: "all text"
========> three matches, all with word "netbios" in the topic.
search 2: Exactly as above, except "Search in forum: "all""
========> more than 50 matches, at least 8 in Netgear/ZyXEL.
What is going on here? Why don't they show up in the first search? |

I'm having the same problems. I usually give up and just try a Google search of the site. |

BradleyBad Graphics GhostPremium join:2001-02-20 So Far Away | On the positive side, when the DSLR search does (did) work, it was a real speed demon compared to most UBB installations I've perused. I hope it can be fixed soon. There's a gold mine of good info that's just a little too hard to get at right now... |

 | reply to SYNACK The forum search function is basically useless. I'll search for strings that I know are in threads, and get no matches. -- Earthlink/Mindspring/Covad DSL 1.5M/384k; Avg speed 1265k/325k LET'S GO DEVILS! |

Hey Justin - can we get that fixed?
It would make using the forums a lot easier. It's a real pain to have to browse through all the threads to look for info on a subject that may not be stated clearly in the title. -- Yup ah did it, whatcha gonna do about it?

EMartiCapricorn join:2001-05-01 Corona, CA | reply to SYNACK I agree, it doesn't seem to make much of difference if you search on title's or all text either. I've done searches on my own posts, for things that are in the title, with no returns, and these are recent posts ony a few days old. Google seems to do an OK job of finding posts, but it takes a little while for them to show up though. It also appears to have gotten a lot worse in the past two weeks. |

Working better for me (I think) I used to be of the same opinion, but it seems to work very well for individual forums.
I'll go try the site search and come right back
YES - it IS working better - but there is only 147 people logged on now and it's Sunday morning and I'm pretty sure that we just finished w/ the house keeping chores around here. Everything is much quicker than it was an hour ago. -- ~Don't let anything steal your JOY! ~ [text was edited by author 2001-06-17 05:56:39] |
