Re: NIGHTMARE - AT&T Global Network Client + Links

I have a Dlink DI-614+ router, AT&T Network client 5.04, ISP Nildram. I can connect to the VPN server via the client fine. However, a couple of the programs that I use which access the VPN run incredibly slowly, particularly Outlook which pretty much comes to a grinding halt. Now, when I connect to the VPN server through my telephone line instead, it works fairly quickly (as fast as 56k can work anyway!). I have disabled Gaming Mode on my router, this did not make any different, I also opened up ports 500 and 4500 all to no effect.

A couple of things I have noticed, for some reason my laptop has a MAC Miniport Bridge installed which my network card is binded to (3com 3c5920).. if I unbind my network card from this bridge then it will still work fine under normal use, however, trying to connect to the VPN Server produces the following error "!Error 101 Missing Default Gateway MAC address.".
Another thing I have noticed is, the Net Firewall on the network card (and the bridge) is unchecked whereas it is checked on my dialup connection. However, when I check to enable the Net Firewall service on the network card and then try to connect to the VPN Server, the client just times out while trying to retrieve a list of VPN Servers.

Does anyone have any ideas ?

Wow, good advice on the beta utility. I uninstalled the WPC11 and drivers and ran the beta install. Now works like a charm!
