Hello
What is the difference between an antivirus realtime monitor that starts at the windows start as a service and one that starts at the windows start as a normally program? |

| If it starts as a service, it will protect your system even before a user logs into the desktop (in NT/2K/XP). Regular programs only start when a user logs in and Explorer loads.
Many AVs use both methods; the service starts when Windows starts and provides the real-time protection, and another module loads when the user logs in, which provides the user interface to the service (tray icon/menu, pop-up virus alerts, etc.) |
