Seems it should be simple to create a nice logo out of this name SPOTO PHOTO. How come I'm having so much trouble?
Any ideas? |

| First off, welcome to Broadband Reports!
Have you got a color scheme in mind? Do you have an existing web site this should fit into? What size logo are you looking for?
These are just a few questions I could think of that will help many of us along the way.

| Thanks,
I think the problem is that I'm all over the place. I want something kinda bold for my race photography site, but my nature has been artsyfartsy still life, with a job emphasis of boring catalog.
I tend to prefer cool tones, but am open to suggestion. |

| reply to Spotography I think we're getting somewhere. FWIW, my background is in political science and criminal justice... not dentistry (pulling teeth).
So basically we have a pretty open canvas to work with (within reason, of course). Just a few more questions:
What sort of racing (horses, NASCAR, snails)? Size restrictions?
My creativity is spent the for night (read: drinks are flowing), so ideas will flow tomorrow! -- A village is missing its idiot. Help it November 2004. |

| Yes, go crazy. I gave the job to my 7 year old daughter, and she put the two words in kind of an arrow joined at the "O" Not bad...
That would be people racing, although I like that idea of snails, it would completely eliminate any sharpness trouble.
I'm looking for a master logo that can be used at assorted sizes, maybe 400 wide? It's currently around 200 on the site, mainly due to lack of control there. Working on that too. |

That's actually the best thing I've seen so far. It would certainly work well with the race photography, as I said before, maybe that's what the trouble has been, I need to separate the bold from the artsy. |

| reply to Spotography Here's my idea. My camera lens isn't quite finished yet, it's missing a glass effect and in iris! This would be better for the Web than for print material. Colors could be changed, too. -- A village is missing its idiot. Help it November 2004. |

Very professional
Nice work, certainly not pulling teeth? |

I understand what you mean about the readability of the image. It does sort of look like Spot Photo! Here are two images without the lens, and reads more like what you intended.
Again, if you want other colors, that's the easy part. -- A village is missing its idiot. Help it November 2004. |

I was trying to decide which "o" to treat, maybe none is best.
Color??? maybe I shouldn't be asked that question |

Around these parts you don't owe anyone anything. That is, of course, unless you consider a thank you "owing" anything.
What do you mean with the phrase, "which "o" to treat?"
Ask any question you like. You want another color (instead of white and purple) for the text, just say so! It's like McDonalds around here, we make it your way! -- A village is missing its idiot. Help it November 2004. |

| reply to Spotography I'm slow, but I get it now. You're thinking about moving the camera lens to another "O" in the logo. I'm still not sure what kind of "people racing" we're dealing with. Are we talking running a marathon type racing? If so, we could possibly incorporate a silhouette of a runner in the logo. -- A village is missing its idiot. Help it November 2004. |

| reply to Spotography OK Thank You then.
Yes marathon/triathlon stuff. I was hoping for a logo to use for all my work, but maybe different colors or different items in the "o"'s for different applications?
I usually don't follow the keep it simple rule too well. |

| reply to Spotography You're very welcome. I wasn't directing my comments to you in particular regarding the "thank you" bit, it was just a general statement.
Here's the same logo with the camera lens finished and moved over. It looks much better moved elsewhere, but it's your decision whether it stays in or goes in the bit bucket! Please advise whether you want it or not.
I'll work on an assortment of colors sometime tomorrow and zip them up. I'll leave off any other ornamentation so they are generic for all purposes. -- A village is missing its idiot. Help it November 2004. |

Spotography Premium join:2004-03-20 Boulder, CO | I was thinking of putting it there, or in the last "o"
When looking at color variations, what do you think of the Spoto having the color for emphasis? |

| I'm still laughing...
You've been busy.
Pardon my ignorance, but I tried to put one on my site as a test. I can only upload a jpg, and it ended up not looking very good. I'm still trying to figure out what I can and can't do on the site, I know I can change the header if I know html.
I think I'll have to break down and hire a web person, until I have the time to get educated. |
