| Re: another reason... The Supreme Court decision hinges extensively on the topic of Telecommunications. Where Chairman Powell could find himself between a rock and a hard place, if one were to view broadband as referring to high speed internet service, is the FCC position that broadband internet service (specifically cable internet) is not a telecommunications service. It would be interesting to see a legal opinion regarding the effect of this ruling on potential municipal offerings which do not contain a component currently viewed by the FCC as telecommunications.
In reference to the potentially related cases noted in the news item, it kind of leaves me wondering if this is yet another sign that corporate interests have the ability to enact legislation in spite of the will of the people, even at the State level. |
