Re: [FP]-SPLIT- I'm interested!

Here are my thoughts and proposal.

said by Gizmo See Profile:
If we create an "owner/operator" category, do we need a "lessee/operator" category for those who use FP owned systems"? I would think we would need to differentiate between the two in the AOA. And we would need to document, somewhere, who is in what category, but not in the AOA.
We do need two categories. I would label the categories "Project Operator" and "Owner Operator". I would call the individuals just "Operators" with no differentiation in their title or role. All operators must be ready to donate their time and money to build, configure, host and administer their Foldy. All Operators must commit to 1) run their Foldy to be best of their ability and 2) to work together with other Operators, the board and members of FP on issues and work items (ie Stats) the pertain to the overall project.

Since operators for FP systems are decided by a vote of the membership, does this apply to both owner and lessee operators? And are they voted on yearly as asked by RPM Jack »[FP] Articles of Association - Your Ideas Please ?
Yes, I think *all* operators should be elected yearly. The expectation should be for Operators that are good team members and run their Foldy to the best of their ability, they will be re-elected. It is also a way for them to pass on their Foldy responsibility if they can no longer (for whatever reason) run the Foldy for another year.

And, do we need all operators to be on the board of directors and remain so during the time they actively operate a Foldinator system? As rfhar asked why they are even on the board »[FP] Articles of Association - Your Ideas Please .
As I have said many times ... I believe the Operators are the most important people on the project. We trust them and expect them to run their system and drive towards our goals. I think there needs to be an Operator voice on the board.

I propose the following: After the annual elections of board officers and Operators. The Operators would select one of them to serve on the board. That way the pool of Operators has a chosen voice on the board.

Now that sounds good GarG. I had similar thoughts and you hit it on the head.

I don't think Owner operators should have to be voted on by the whole FP. I think it would be better if the board decides this because of the low monies having to be put out.

I mean if someone want to spend 800.00 of their money and want to run it under TH then I think we should let them....

As for grouping the operators into one voice, Sure I do not have a problem with it. But what happens in the future when a problem arises? Do we just not count the operators votes and leave it up to the main body of the FP to decide? If this is the case then why have the operators on the board at all? Regardless to the point of an operator being on the board, I feel the board will listen to them anyway.
