Good luck. My Telocity experience was not at all good. I'd say, "get ready for out of the frying pan and into the fire." But yours may have a chance to be much better. If you're in So. Florida, that's Hayward country, and he has had many good things to say about his Telocity service. I don't doubt that it works well for some people, but for me, it was not so good. You've had lots of good luck so far; Telocity had constantly told me, "your gateway will be there within 10 days," but never actually delivering for over a month. Since you got yours within a week, that's a good sign. |

Quite possibly. With an uptime of about 50%, I'd say my NPNTQ connection sucked donkey balls, to quote "South Park." But then again, this may have had more to do with Telocity's engineering of their Gateway. But then again, that connection is all I have to go on, as far as NPNTQ's quality.

I just wish I had my Northpoint back -- seriously, I was never happier as when I had their service and I'd pay even a premium price to have it back. |

You are mixing apples and oranges, you are comparing Northpoint who was a last mile carrier to Telocity which is an ISP. I had Telocity under Northpoint, when Northpoint died, my service at telocity got disconnected.
You shouldn't blame northpoint if you were unhappy with your pervious ISP.
I read your review on Telocity, Obviously you are very new to DSL, I suggest that you read up on it before recommending a horrible service provider such as Telocity to your friends.

Gee, so I should, like, drop Northpoint, huh? What if they drop me first? Would that matter? What if it already happened?

Bite me, Northpoint.
My best advice is look around at other services and drop Northpoint ASAP. If you can, find an ISP that is backing users on Northpoint like Telocity is.

| Had Northpoint IDSL in November. Went up and lasted for 12 days before permanently biting the bullet. Their service sucked and the idiots couldn't figure out why it couldn't work. Two months later, they were saying that the DSL modem was incompatible with the central office's "antiquated" equipment. Whatever. After two more weeks of B.S. I canceled. Shortly after that, they announced their bankruptcy. Was I surprised? Hardly.
Without any other DSL or cable internet services in my area, I survived on dial-up service for seven months. Finally, ADSL service surfaces through Telocity/DirecTV before any other ISPs say that can service me. I subscribed, and SEVEN (YES, SEVEN) days later, I have my DSL "Gateway" installed and DSL is working at ADSL speeds of 1.5Mbps down and 262Kbps up. It's fast, reliable, easy to install, and I have a static IP.
Bite me, Northpoint.
My best advice is look around at other services and drop Northpoint ASAP. If you can, find an ISP that is backing users on Northpoint like Telocity is. I have a feeling that because Northpoint previously ran my IDSL line out, most of the line grooming and equipment had already been done and that's why my Telocity service went up so fast. I'm preaching Telocity to everyone in my area, so if you live in south Florida (Palm Beach area).. I highly recommend Telocity. |
